Advanced Piano Coaching
For ambitious pianists who know they can play better and want to perform with confidence and authority.
I offer grounded performance coaching that transforms technical ability into calm confidence and full self-expression on stage. For advanced middle and high-school pianists (ages 13+) preparing for auditions, competitions, and serious performance goals.
Many advanced pianists reach a point where:
-
The notes are there, but the performance doesn’t yet carry full authority
-
Playing feels inconsistent under pressure
-
Confidence drops in auditions or competitions
-
The music doesn’t fully reflect their artistic potential
Students often think: “I know I can play better than this.”
Parents often wonder: “Why does my child sound so strong in the practice room, but not on stage?”
This is not a lack of talent. It’s a missing layer of guided artistic preparation.
This stage is common in advanced development and it’s exactly where the right guidance makes the greatest difference.

I’ve worked for over 20 years with serious young musicians facing this exact stage of development.
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Mozarteum Salzburg.
This background allows me to address both the technical demands of advanced piano playing and the mental and artistic challenges that emerge as pianists grow.
I know how frustrating it is to feel capable, but not yet free.
I work as a coach for grounded, artistic performance. This means:
-
Clear, structured technical guidance
-
Deep musical and interpretive work
-
Practical tools for calm confidence under pressure
-
A preparation process that holds up on stage—not just in lessons
This is serious, focused work done with care, and respect for the student’s individuality.
"Shimrit shed light and provided tools for so many issues that pianists like us deal with on a daily basis, both in practice and on stage. I personally find myself recalling her advice every day and am grateful for the opportunity to have heard and learned from her experience."

How we work
This is not a fixed method. It is a responsive process shaped around the individual pianist and real performance demands.
A working plan, built around real goals
We begin by clarifying where you are going: auditions, competitions, programs, and timelines.
Your repertoire, practice priorities, and pacing are shaped around actual performance demands, not abstract improvement.
Reliable preparation that survives pressure
Together we build a deliberate practice framework that creates stability.
The focus is not on practicing more, but on practicing in a way that produces consistency, clarity, and trust—even under stress.
Performance readiness: calm confidence and resilience
We train the ability to step on stage focused, present, and emotionally available.
This includes tools for managing pressure, restoring attention, and performing with full expression and artistic courage.
Developing artistic authority
At this level, technique serves expression.
We articulate what you want to say through the music and refine how you communicate it—so you don’t just play well, but perform as a true artist with a clear voice.
The goal is becoming a reliable, expressive performing pianist.
Students learn to:
-
Perform with calm confidence
-
Play with full self-expression and authority
-
Trust their preparation in high-stakes situations
-
Step on stage knowing they are ready

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this track for?
Ambitious pianists ages 13 and up with a solid technical foundation who are preparing for auditions, competitions, or advanced musical programs.
Is this only for competition pianists?
No. Some students are competition-focused, others are preparing for auditions or long-term artistic development. What matters is seriousness, curiosity, and commitment.
How advanced do I need to be?
Students should already read fluently, work independently, and handle advanced repertoire. This is not a beginner or remedial track.
How is this different from regular piano lessons?
Our work integrates technique, repertoire, performance psychology, and artistic decision-making. The goal is not just to play better, but to perform with clarity, authority, and confidence under pressure.
Do you work with parents as part of the process?
Yes. When appropriate, I help align expectations, timelines, and preparation strategies so students are supported both musically and emotionally.
Is online study possible?
Yes. Advanced students regularly work with me online with strong results.
