Welcome to my studio,

I am Dr. Shimrit Tsiporen

As a teacher, my aim is to nurture my students’ self expression and foster their own interpretations. To do this we use exercises to ignite the imagination and stimulate storytelling while exploring the historical context of the music. All to help students connect the music they play with their life experience and find its meaning in today’s world.

In my private studios in both NJ and Tel-Aviv, I have taught piano and voice lessons. I’ve mentored students ages 5-44 including highschoolers preparing for the Bagrut exam, undergrad music majors at Rutgers University and avocational adult musicians. No matter what their age or goal, my students are curious and open to discovering what they are capable of. They perform everything from Fanny Hensel and Florence Price to Debussy, Gershwin and Prokofiev.

In lessons we focus on productive practice habits, creative problem-solving skills, strategies for ease of memorization and confident performance skills. We also work on the transferable skills of healthy stress reduction and mental focus. These come into play in our regular studio performances that celebrate the joy of music making.

My performance credits include concerts at Carnegie hall in NYC, Heichal Hatarbut and Studio Annette in TA. I have performed with Barrocade ensemble, Baroque orchestra and the Israeli Vocal Ensemble. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from Rutgers University in NJ.

I'd be happy to answer!
